NBA Playoffs Round 2

Well the Mavs made it to the next round of the playoffs, and while San Antonio gets to cruise to an easy victory over the Sonics, we get our old buddy and MVP Steve Nash and the Suns. Joy.

Game one was so hard to watch I watched two episodes of Smallville after the first half. I came back a few times and got sick to my stomach. In my estimation we have a mountain to climb in this series. The only way to stop the Suns from shining is to slow them down or run with 'em, Don Nelson style. This team was built to beat the Spurs. Unfortunately this year we met the Rockets and the Suns. Little Avery is going to have to strap on the hi-tops in practice tomorrow and without tripping, show the Mavs how to get this done. I think the Mavs can do it, they have to show the Suns they can, otherwise I'll be attending the Mavs final game on Sunday. I paid too much money for Sunday's tickets, so go Mavs!

REVIEW: Star Wars:Episode III-Revenge of the Sith

Star Wars
Originally uploaded by genzod.

Well, I've seen it. I can't say how or can't say where, but I've seen it. And, I must admit it was not that bad. After being rather disapointed with the last entry, "Attack of the Clones", I was generally happy with Lucas' newest entry, "Revenge of the Sith". The first half is a bit of a continuation of Clones, then things get dark, and thankfully stay that way. The last hour of this film feels like a Star Wars movie of old. It feels dangerous and risky. I can't really talk about much, cause I don't want to give anything away. I made the mistake of knowing too much already. The last 30 minutes or so of the film is inspired Star Wars. It made me kind of sad that it took Lucas 2 and a half films to find the Star Wars tone, and now its all over... (at least until the new TV series comes out..)

I'm gonna keep it short and say check it out. Sure there are artifacts from the previous two that will make you cringe here and there, but they are kept to a minimum. The pacing is fast and rarely are you bored or stuck in "Lucasspeak" for too long of a time. And to sum up it's great to have Vader back!

The Game (part 5)

Man. What a game. I didn't even play in it but I am exhausted today. I am a hardcore Rockets and Mavs fan. This first round of the NBA Western Conference Playoffs has been very difficult for me. I have been following the Mavs much closer the past 5 years than the Rockets, so I have decided to back to Mavs in this series. After being down 0-2 to the mighty Rockets, the Mavs have turned it on. They are beginning to play at the level they ended the season on, and Amy and I were lucky enough to bear witness to the best playoff game of the season (thus far) live an in person last night. It was an incredible game to behold and we cannot wait till Thursday at 8pm. Its gonna be a war in Planet Houston. Go Mavs!

If anyone is interested, I have several short films over at Underground Film. Just go to the search window and type in "Clapp" and you should get a list of my shorts.

Seventy-8 Update

Where to begin? Well to start with we are talking with several distributors for "Seventy-8". It can be very stressful at times to really wrap your head around this whole distribution thing. However we are making good progress and hope to have some good news very soon.

I'd like to thank everyone who came out to the screenings in Dallas, Richardson, Denton, and finally Fort Worth. We had really nice turnouts to each screening, and had some terrific Q and A sessions. I can't really say that there will be another screening anytime soon, but there is a distinct possibility that we could have one last final screening in Dallas in HD this summer.

If anyone missed the Fort Worth Weekly article that Kristin Lin did on the film, you can find it here:
Ft. Worth Weekly

And also I am still working on the trailer. You can find its temporary home here:
78 Trailer

I will let you know any news that comes up as it happens!
