Honeymoon Nov. 10th (cell phone pics)

We stopped into an internet cafe espreso place called SCANNERS to check the blog. Apparently not all my cell phone pics are being uploaded to the blog site. So if you want to see them all click on one of the photos and it will take you to the Flicker website where the photos are hosted and then click on "view slideshow" to the right of the photo and then click on the thumbnails to see each of the photos.

Hope everyone at home is doing well. We are having a fun time. It was sunny yesterday, but today has been typical Northwest rainy all day. Our hotel and beach house are awesome. So far we have had beach views every night. We can watch the storms come in every day and night. Really cool!!!

Peace out,
Erik and Amy

Thoughts...

Sorry for not being a better blogger, but it has been busy a busy time. So here are a few things on my mind:

1. My boss Herb Pease Sr. died on Tuesday this week. I'm still in a state of denial I guess. I don't know what to do or say about it. Is that bad? Maybe so. But I really loved the guy, and he was the one person that was willing to take a chance on me and my dream, and I don't intend to let him down. I know he's up there watching me. I will miss him very much.

2. The wedding. I will be married on Sunday to the most bestest woman in the world. Things are tense now, but hopefully when all is said and done, we can get back to normal. Weddings bring out the best and worst in people. Elope is a good word. Off to the Northwest...

3. The Mavs. Played the Spurs last night. Where is Devin? Has he gone? Is he suddenly a bench player now that his mind is blown. Relax and play the game.

4. The Borat movie comes out today. I like Borat, but I am sick of seeing him everywhere. I predict his popularity will be the death of that character. PeeWee Herman anyone?

5. Halloween was a sad one with everything going on. Next year will be better.

6. Work is insane. Lots of projects coming in. Some good, some bad. I've become quite good at making bad stuff look good. I'm not sure if that is a trend I need to follow to closely.

7. Cloning, when will this happen? I need one right away.

8. Customer Service has been really bad lately everywhere I go. Maybe I'm getting old and cranky, but people are getting dumber and slower everyday. (See Idiocracy review below).

9. Movies. Have not had time to watch much. Did see History of Violence. As a Cronenberg devote I was quite disappointed. It was a mature film for him, but he's more creative than that. I thought it could have been more interesting.

10. Albert Brooks. Genius.

11. Smallville. Still enjoy the show, but where are we going? Is there an end in sight? Superman Returns Again got the greenlight. Wise move.

12. Blue-Ray or HD? That is the question. Wait it out. Got a Slingbox the other day. Hooked up only to find it does not work yet with Macs even though it says it does on the box. Took it back, then two weeks later they come out with it and it works with Macs. I can't win the technology marathon. Its hopeless.

13. Heroes TV show, Its getting really good. But again where will it go, and will we like it once we get there?

14. Bought a nightvision camera for security. Recorded Amy and I sleeping one night. I do a lot of reaching with my arms into the air for no apparent reason. Flying or climbing?

15. Wedding. Holy crap I gotta go get married!

Review: Lady Vengeance

There are movies that trick you sometimes. And I like that. Such is the case with Chan-wook Park's new film Lady vengeance (aka Sympathy for Lady vengeance. This is the last part of Park's vengeance trilogy started with the brilliant Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance and even more brilliant Oldboy. (man, I still love that movie!!!) The final installment is just as inventive but more suptle than Oldboy. In fact the first hour might make you dizzy as the movie shifts through time a lot, with a lot of characters. So have some coffee. However stick with it, cause at the end Park does it again and pulls the rug out from you and serves up an ending scene that will make you think.

Lee Geum-Ja, at the age of 19, goes to prison for the murder and abduction of a child on behalf of her accomplice Mr. Baek, only to find out that she is betrayed. While in prison, she carefully prepares for her revenge by winning the hearts of her fellow inmates with her kindness, thus earning herself the nickname 'kind Ms. Geum-Ja'. Upon her release from prison after 13 years, she finally sets out to seek revenge on Baek, with the help of her former prison mates.

What she discovers about Mr. Baek sets her on a similar if not fascinating different kind of revenge plot that I felt was really interesting. I can't say I liked this as much as the first two, but its a great ending to an amazing trilogy. All the actors from the other two films are all in this playing different small roles as a kind of good-bye. The cinematography by Jeong-hun Jeong (oldboy) is again incredible. Chan-wook Park is an amazing talent to keep your eye on. I want to watch it again soon to pick up on some stuff i may have missed the first time out. Up next for me is the banned from cable film Imprint from Takashi Miike! Wish me luck.
